Community Involvement

GenNEXT Council Community InvolvementYoung professionals know that involvement with community groups and nonprofit organizations enrich their personal lives. In turn, these achievements can be used to enhance careers and lead to professional success. In Tech Valley, we’re fortunate to have a culture where nonprofits and businesses work closely together to improve our quality of life.

GenNEXT is proud to support Tech Valley’s nonprofit community as part of our effort to foster our region’s economic vitality. Recently, we sorted food at the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and participated in the United Way’s Hands on Capitaland program by donating our time at Parsons Family and Child Center, which offers residential care for children who have behavioral and emotional problems.

GenNEXTers from around the region pitched in to paint the basement of one of the center’s dormitories so it could be converted into an inviting recreational center for the children.

Our strategies to promote community involvement include:

  • introducing young professionals to nonprofit board members through networking and arranged meetings.
  • developing programs that promote Tech Valley’s nonprofit organizations and their contributions to our quality of life.
  • spreading the word through various communication channels about the value of getting involved.
  • identifying roles for young professionals in the nonprofit community through participating on boards of directors or just simply volunteering their time.
