During the open enrollment period, Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber members have the opportunity to purchase health benefit coverage (medical, dental, prescription) through several health insurance carriers. A member's eligible employees and their eligible dependents also have the same opportunity.

The open enrollment period is November 1 - 30.

All new enrollments and/or plan enrollment changes will be effective January 1 for companies with one person in the company (current Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber member sole proprietor) or two or more persons in the company (current or new Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber member corporation).

A new Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber member company of one person (sole proprietor) will be subject to an initial 60-day waiting period.

An open enrollment period is an opportunity for an Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber member company to:

• initially elect to enroll in one of the health plans offered.
• elect to change the health plan it has selected and enroll in a different health plan offered (enrollment would include employees electing coverage).

Also for Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber member company employees to:

• elect to enroll if they previously declined participation.*
• add or remove a dependent.*
• change the levels of coverage or elect additional coverage (such as dental) if offered by the member company. An employee must confirm with the employer what plans are offered before making an election.

* To determine if pre-existing conditions apply, one must provide a Certificate of Creditable Coverage or HIPPA certificate from the prior insurance carrier to prove prior coverage.

NOTE: A company's and/or employee's current plan choices and plan benefits will remain the same unless one submits a request for a change and completes the appropriate paperwork required by any of the participating health insurance carriers.
