How do I edit my business listing on Albany.com?

  1. Go to www.Albany.com/account
  2. Sign in using your E-mail address and password.
    Forget your login? Contact Mannix Marketing at (518) 743-9424 for assistance.
  3. Click “Login”
  4. Under Account Options, click “Edit Your Business Listing”. This will bring you to a page showing your listing and which category your listing is located on Albany.com.
  5. Click “Edit This Listing” next to the listing you wish to edit

The next screen will have a series of tabs you are able to edit to enhance your listing. The amount of editing options available will depend on your level of membership. To upgrade your editing options, contact Jennifer Sims at jennifers@acchamber.org or 431-1418.

Below are step-by-step instructions for each tab:

Details Tab

Review your business name and add an intro paragraph and long description for your business listing.

  1. Review your Listing Title (To edit your Title, call the Chamber at (518) 431-1400.)
  2. Add an intro paragraph for your company in 1-2 sentences (up to 250 characters).
    Tips: This will be the introductory paragraph that shows up within your listing on the directory landing page and will also be the first paragraph on your listing. This description should sell your business and entice people to want to find out more.
    Example: Full service salon located in downtown Albany offering massage, facials, hair, nails, make-up and more.
  3. Add a long description of your company which will be displayed on your custom listing. The verbiage should be clear, easy to understand and have a marketing punch.
    Tips: Include a brief overview of your company, your offerings, hours of operation and any other information you feel differentiates your business from the competition.
    Hint: Make this description different from the information on your website. Although copying and pasting directly from your website is fast and easy, creating duplicate material online can confuse search engines and hurt your search engine ranking.
  4. Click “Save Changes”

Location Tab

Add your physical address and provide a marker for your Google Map.

  1. Fill in your business address, city, state and zip code.
  2. If you would like a Google Map to appear within your listing, you will need the latitude and longitude coordinates. These automatically pre-fill, but please check the Google Map for accuracy of the location. If the map is wrong, here is a resource for obtaining your business’ latitude and longitude coordinates:
    1. Go to http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html
    2. Plug in your business address and the map will display your latitude and longitude coordinates (the longitude is the negative number).
  3. Click “Save Changes”

Contact Info Tab

Add your current contact information, including website link, phone number and email address.

  1. Add your website address. (Make sure to include http://)
  2. Add your email address.
  3. Add your phone number. (Please include your area code in your local phone and fax number)
  4. Click “Save Changes”

Photos Tab

Add up to 20 photos to your listing slide show.
Note: Before uploading, photos must be resized to 550x340 pixels.

  1. Click “Upload Photos” on the right hand side of the screen.
  2. Click “Add Files”
  3. Browse your computer for the photos and click “Open”
  4. Once you have added all photos, click “Upload”.

Video Tab

If you have your video on YouTube.com or another video service, copy the embed code from that location to show your video on your listing.

  1. Find the embed code in YouTube.com to the right of the video under the account name.
  2. Uncheck “Show Related Videos” before you copy the code.
  3. Copy the code into the “embed code” box.
  4. Click “Save Changes”

Events Tab

Add your events to your listing. Your events will also be fed onto the events calendars of our network of websites from the Adirondacks to Albany.

  1. Click “Add Event”
  2. Submit your event information with a start and end date
  3. Add in as much information about the event as possible for maximum impact.
  4. Click “Proceed”
  5. Check your event details for accuracy

It may take up to 24 hours for your event to appear on the Albany.com main calendar.

Coupons Tab

Provide special discounts to your customers through custom coupons. Multiple coupons may be created.

  1. Add a title, description, disclaimer (if applicable) and url (website link, if applicable)
  2. Check "display on Albany.com" if you want the coupon to also appear on the Albany.com general website.
    Note: By not checking this box, your coupon will appear only on your profile page.
  3. Coupon type - select the type of coupon you are offering.
  4. Coupon is Live - By checking this box, your coupon will be active.
  5. Enter the expiration date of your coupon (if applicable)
  6. Click "Save Changes"

PDFS Tab

This section allows you to allow pdfs about your business. Properly created pdfs are searchable by search engines. With content developed around great search terms, this could help improve your listing in these search engines.

  1. Click "Upload PDF"
  2. Click "Choose File"
  3. Select the pdf you would like to upload.
  4. Click "Upload"
  5. Once Uploaded, click "give it a title"
  6. Enter your title in the space provided.
  7. Click "Save Title"

To remove a pdf, click on the trash can located to the right of the PDF title. Then, click "Okay".

STATS Tab

The STATS Tab provides details about the amount of visitors your business listing receives. Statistics may be provided in the following categories:

  • Listing Pages Viewed - Total number of times visitors went to your business listing.
  • More Page Inquiries - Total number of times visitors wanted more information on your business.
  • WWW Link Inquiries - Total number of times visitors needed additional information and clicked through to your website.*
  • Total Inquiries - Total number of times visitors wanted more information on your business or needed additional information and clicked through to your website.

*A click is every time a visitor clicks from Albany.com to your site. It does not include all the times they return to your site directly or all clicks on the pages to your site.

Reviews Tab

If activated, visitors can leave a review on your listing about your business. You have the opportunity to manage reviews within 48 hours of a review being posted.

Note: You can activate/deactivate the user review function under the "Details" tab.
